- What file do I get?
- An .ogg file holding an Opus stream. Every current browser, phone, and desktop player handles it, and an hour of speech lands around 20 MB instead of the 115 MB the same audio takes uncompressed.
- Can I get an MP3 instead?
- Not honestly — no browser ships an MP3 encoder, so any site offering one is doing the work on a server your file was uploaded to. If you specifically need MP3, convert the .ogg afterwards with a local tool.
- Is there a length limit?
- The whole track is decoded in this tab, so very long recordings are limited by the memory your browser has. Longer files are encoded at a lower sample rate to keep that from becoming a problem.
