Panopto can offer the original PowerPoint or Keynote file, but only when the recording’s creator allows it. When there is no file, the Video2Any extension reads the slides from the player as they are shown.
1. Look for the Attachments tab
Open the recording in Panopto and look at the tabs on the left of the player. When the creator recorded with slides and allowed downloads, the original PowerPoint or Keynote file is listed under Attachments, with a download button next to its name.
If there is no Attachments tab, nobody has shared a slide file for this recording. Panopto hides the tab when there is nothing to download.
2. Ask the instructor to share it
Only the recording’s creator can switch the file on. In the video’s Settings, under Streams, they find the deck under Presentation Documents and tick Allow in the Download column.
Some recordings have no file to share. A lecture captured by a classroom system records the projector as video, so the slides were never uploaded as a document; the instructor would have to upload the deck separately.
3. Extract the slides from the playback
When there is no file and you are allowed to keep notes from the recording, the Video2Any extension can read the slides from the player. Open the recording on its own Panopto page rather than inside a course page, make the slides the large view and start the extension. The lecture tab has to stay open until the run finishes, but it does not have to stay in front.
If you already have a copy of the video file, drop it in the box above instead. Either way, you review the slides in the editor and save them as PowerPoint or PDF.

- Why does the extension find no video?
- An embedded or protected player may be inaccessible. Try the recording’s standalone page. If that still fails, use an authorized copy of the video file; this tool does not bypass playback restrictions.
- Why is there no Attachments tab?
- Panopto shows the tab only when the creator has allowed a presentation file to be downloaded. Recordings made with the browser recorder or a classroom system often have no file attached at all.
- Are the extracted slides the same as the original file?
- They match what was on screen, one image per slide. They do not include speaker notes or slides the lecturer skipped, and the text cannot be edited as text.
- What is free?
- The first 30 minutes per video are free without an account. A free account includes one full-length recording. Then $2.99 unlocks 2 recordings, or a one-time $49 payment removes the analysis length limit.
- What can I edit?
- The slides are images from the recording. You can reorder, crop and annotate them; the original text and charts are not rebuilt as editable objects. Free PPTX/PDF exports add a final Video2Any credit page. The lifetime plan removes it.
