A ScreenApp alternative when you need the slides from the video

ScreenApp is not a bad video-to-slides tool. It is a different one. It records, transcribes, writes notes, and generates an editable PowerPoint from the transcript. For a meeting, a study session or a lecture you want summarized, that is a lot of work done for you.

This page is for the narrower case: the slides already existed, they were on screen, and you need those pages — not a new deck written about them.

On this page

ScreenApp’s video-to-PPT feature generates a deck: “editable PowerPoint (.pptx) presentations generated from recording transcripts”, with “slide text and speaker notes”. Screenshots can be included from the source video, but the presentation is built from what was said.

Video2Any extracts: it finds the moments the picture changed, keeps one clean frame per slide, and exports those frames as pages. It never writes new slide text. If a diagram or equation was only spoken and never shown, we cannot recover it — and we say so.

Where the two actually differ

When ScreenApp is the better choice

  • You want notes, a transcript or a searchable chat about the recording. We do not produce any of those.
  • You want an editable deck written from the narration, with speaker notes, rather than the pages that were shown.
  • You record meetings or lectures on your phone and want one app for recording, notes and sharing.
  • A 45-minute free recording is enough to judge it, and you prefer the all-in-one workflow.

When Video2Any fits better

  • The slides were already on screen and you need those exact pages, including equations, diagrams and the lecturer’s layout.
  • The recording is long, and you want the first 30 minutes of every video free rather than a small trial count.
  • You do not want to upload the file. For slide extraction, decoding, frame comparison and export all happen in the tab.
  • You need PDF, Word, Markdown, Anki, an image ZIP or audio, not only a generated PowerPoint.
  • The lecture is behind Panopto, Canvas or another course player; the browser extension reads the playing tab.

The short version

Choose ScreenApp when the value is in the notes and the generated narrative. Choose Video2Any when the value is in the pages that were already there.

Try it on one lecture: the first 30 minutes are free, no account and no upload for slide extraction. If the output is not the pages you saw, ScreenApp or another generator is the right tool.
